The founders of Ampro Industries, Inc., Irvin and Doris Lansky owned a dry goods store which was located in Memphis, TN, on the city’s historic Beale Street.

They sold various items, including multi-cultural hair care products. Impressed by the hair care industry, the Lanskys formed Vogue Distributing Company, a business that sold personal care products to beauty supply stores.

They later opened Vogue Beauty and Barber Mart, a small beauty supply store located in downtown Memphis, just steps from the original location. It was in the basement of Vogue Beauty and Barber Mart that the couple began manufacturing their own brand of hair care products. In 1947, they named the line “Ampro” which is short for “American Products.” To date, Ampro products are still manufactured, warehoused, and shipped from its home in Memphis, TN.

Continuing the Lansky vision, their daughter, Cheri Rudner – Chairman of the Board, her husband, Henry Rudner – CEO, and Jack Sammons – President of Ampro Industries, ensure that Ampro products maintain the value our consumers deserve.
